I am a life long resident of this part of Colorado. I was born in Fruita in 1952 and moved, with my parents, to Carbondale in 1961. I attended primary and secondary school in Carbondale and Glenwood Springs. I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. I raised my two children here. I spent most of my working career at Holy Cross Energy. I am married to Deborah, formerly of Aspen, now living near Basalt. I have lived in Pitkin County for more than 18 years.
I retired from Holy Cross in 2005 with 30 plus years of progressive responsibility working in operations, administrative and executive management positions. I was a "hands on" professional with a proven track record in general and utility management; human resources; administrative services; communications; consumer and public relations; energy conservation and efficiency; and renewable energy programs. In fact, I was involved in the creation, implementation and promotion of many of Holy Cross's current renewable energy, conservation and efficiency programs including the "WECARE" program. I am familiar with all the communities in Holy Cross's service territory and many of the issues they face today.
I have been involved with several non-profit and community organizations in both the Eagle River and Roaring Fork River valleys. I was a founding Board member of the Community Office of Resource Efficiency (CORE) and served on that Board for over ten years. I have been a Trustee for the Town of Carbondale, a Valley View Hospital Board member, United Way Board President, Board member of the Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability (EVAS) and a member and officer of the Glenwood Springs Rotary Club.
